The Member representing Eket/ONNA/Esit Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency, Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, has lauded the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA)/CHEA International Quality Group (CIQG) for being apt in its theme for the 2024 Annual Conference.

Hon. Etteh was among the Nigeria’s delegation to the 2024 Conference, themed “Quality Assurance Matters,” which took place at the Capital Hilton Hotel in Washington D.C, from Monday, January 29 to Thursday, February 1, 2024.

As one of the international participants at the Conference, Hon. Etteh, who is the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on University Education, said the event offered thoughtful discourse about Quality Assurance and its importance for sustainability of an enriched society.

While admitting that cultural and political climate of the past years have presented unprecedented challenges for higher education, Hon. Etteh further lauded CHEA for “serving the society by advocating for accreditation’s value, independence, and education quality.”

He also tasked the Conference to put recommendations at the event to use by supporting innovation and creation of new ideas to enhance quality in higher education.

Hon. Etteh hinted that “the Conference also empowered participants to stay abreast with trends in the industry that are relevant to their roles and learn best practices in the quality assurance and impact service fields.”
