The member representing Eket/ONNA/Esit-Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency, Rep. Okpolupm Etteh, has expressed deep condolences to the Akwa Ibom State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) following the irreplaceable loss of its esteemed members, Miss Patience John and Esther Ukpe.

 

According to Rep. Etteh, Patience John, a seasoned broadcaster with the Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Corporation, and ace publisher, Esther Ukpe, were known for their dedication and passion for journalism, and their demise has left a void in the state’s media landscape, where they were known for their professionalism and commitment to accurate and impactful reporting.

 

In his condolence message on Wednesday, Rep. Etteh described the death of the journalists as significant losses not only to the NUJ and their families but also to the entire state, lauding their contributions to the development of broadcasting in Akwa Ibom and their role in shaping public discourse through the media.

 

“Patience John and Esther Ukpe were very close to me all through my days in the State House of Assembly. They were beacons of excellence in the journalism practice. Their contributions were such that resonated with truth and integrity. Their legacies will continue to inspire both current and future generations of journalists in our state,” Rep. Etteh stated.

 

He urged the NUJ members and the families of the deceased to find solace in the positive impact they made during their lifetime and to continue upholding the positive values they stood for in their professional lives.

 

Rep. Etteh further prayed for the peaceful repose of their souls and for God to grant their families the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.
