The Member representing Eket/ONNA/Esit Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, has expressed sadness over the death of an Assistant Registrar of the National Open University of Nigeria, Deaconess Vivian Paul Ekpo, who died at the National Hospital, Abuja on April 29, 2023 at the age of 55.

 

 

Late Vivian Ekpo, until her death, was the wife of Obong Paul Ekpo, a former State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and present member of the House of Representatives for Etinan/Nsit Ubium/Nsit Ibom Federal Constituency.

 

 

Hon. Etteh, in a statement, described the development as a great loss to the University Community, Etinan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State and the country in general.

 

The Federal Lawmaker said “Late Deaconess Vivian Ekpo, the beloved wife of my brother and colleague, would be solely missed and remembered for the indelible memories and positive legacies she left behind.”

 

“It is with a deep sense of great loss but total submission to the will of God that I note the demise of Deaconess Vivian Paul Ekpo. She was indeed a virtuous and respected woman. She was a humanist, a bridge-builder, loving mother, a devoted Christian and a lover of peace. She lived a spirited, elegant and impactful life,” Hon. Etteh said.

 

While commiserating with the family of his colleague and the National Open University Community, Hon. Etteh urged them to take solace in the fact that the deceased lived a fulfilled life and contributed immensely to humanity until her demise.

 

“On behalf of my family and the people of Eket/ONNA/Esit Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency, I like to specially commiserate with my colleague and his family for this irreplaceable loss,” the Federal Lawmaker said.

 

The funeral service, which was conducted by the Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel) at the Comprehensive Secondary School, Nkana Iman, Etinan Local Government Area, was attended by top dignitaries including Governor Umo Eno and his predecessors, Mr. Udom Emmanuel and Obong Victor Attach; representative of the Senate President, Hon Saviour Enyiekere; the State Deputy Governor Senator Akon Eyakenyin, and her predecessor, Mr. Moses Ekpo; the immediate past Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Obong Umana Okon Umana; Atuekon Don Etiebet; Elder Sam Ikon; Hon. Daniel Akpan; Chief Michael Afangideh; Otuekong Sunny Jackson; Elder Benji Udobia, members of the National and State Assembly, among others.
