In fulfillment of his promise and to demonstrate his commitment to the church, the member representing the Eket/ONNA/Esit-Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency, Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, donated an 18-seater Jinbei Bus to the Ibeno Superintendency of the Qua Iboe Church on Saturday.
Represented by the immediate past Ibeno Transition Committee Chairman, Elder Emma Ibok, Hon. Etteh said “the Bus is intended to aid the church’s operations, enhance mobility for church activities, and also support community outreaches in the area.”
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Hon. Etteh, the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on University Education, emphasized the importance of community and the role of the church in building a moral and supportive society.
He further appealed to the church not to relent in its prayers and support to the Pastor Umo Eno-led administration and those in political offices.
In his response, the Area Chairman and Superintendent Pastor, Revd Essien Akpan John, thanked Hon. Etteh on behalf of the Church for his show of love and kind gesture to the Superintendency.
“This donation will make a significant difference in the lives of our members and the wider church community. We cannot thank you enough for your continued commitment and steadfast support to the church,” Revd. John said.
In a separate humanitarian gesture, Hon. Etteh, also represented by a former Chairman of Ibeno Local Government Council, Hon. Sunday Isokobo, welcomed a cross-session of physically challenged individuals from the Eket Federal Constituency to his Ibeno country home, where he distributed essential food items and cash gifts to show his support and care for their well-being.
The beneficiaries received items such as bags of rice, salt, tomato pastes, and seasoning, along with cash donations to assist with their daily needs.
In his remarks, Hon. Etteh said “This is part of my commitment to inclusivity and ensuring that no one is left behind. It’s my hope that these items will bring some relief and joy to you, considering the time that we are.”
Responding on behalf of the recipients, Mr. Samuel Mbipom Nseabasi, expressed their heartfelt appreciation for the Hon. Etteh’s consistent generosity and dedication to supporting vulnerable groups within the federal constituency.
Highpoint of the event, also graced by Hon. Ekoakwaha Etteh; Elder Ikoedem Ekong; the Ibeno Chapter Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Uko Ikoabasi Uko; Eshiet Akpanulou, and Deaconess Owoidoho Mfonobong, was the presentation of white canes (aiding sticks) to the blinds.
Hon. Etteh’s many initiatives including community support programmes to youth empowerment and skills development, have solidified his reputation as a representative committed to the welfare and development of all segments of society.
