In a swift show of commitment to education and digital learning, the Member representing Eket/ONNA/Esit Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency and Deputy Chairman, House Committee on University Education, Rep. Okpolupm Etteh, has donated sets of computers to Eket Modern High School, Ekpene Obo, Esit Eket Local Government Area.
Rep. Etteh, who was represented by Hon. Ekoakwaha Etteh, led a delegation to the school on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, to officially present the items which included five complete computer sets, desks, and UPS units.
Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Ekoakwaha said the donation was a fulfillment of a promise made by Rep. Etteh during his visit to the school two days earlier ( Monday).
“He sent us to come and represent him here. You can recall that on Monday, when he came to inspect an abandoned perimeter fence project he attracted to the school in the 2024 budget which was abandoned, the Principal mentioned that the school had only seven functional computers for all the students.
Although the 2025 budget had already been passed, he assured to intervene personally with five sets of computers pending inclusion in the next available budget. Today, we are here to fulfill that promise,” he stated.
Receiving the donation, the Principal of the school, Mr. Emmanuel Douglas, expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for his prompt response and dedication to improving learning conditions in public schools.
“On Monday he was here for a project visit, saw another need, and promised to intervene and just two days later, he has delivered. This is unprecedented. We commend him for his sincerity and commitment. We promise to make judicious use of these computers and hope he includes more support for this institution in the 2026 budget,” Douglas said.
The principal further noted that the donation would greatly enhance the school’s ICT capacity, especially as SS3 students prepare to take their examinations through Computer-Based Testing (CBT).
